Reply to reasons article not initially promoted
[edit]1. An editor declined to promote the article in part on the conclusory basis that the editor asserted he is "Non-notable."
But he is notable, under WP:BASEBALL/N. Which says "Baseball figures are presumed notable if they ... have participated in a major international competition (such as the World Baseball Classic, Baseball World Cup or Olympics) as a member of a national team.
He has participated, as a starter in fact, in two major international competitions of that nature: both the 2019 European Baseball Championship and the two-continent Africa/Europe 2020 Olympic Qualification tournament (which his team won). As a member of a national team -- the Israel national baseball team.
And yes - the ballplayer is a starter on a team that has qualified to play in the Olympics in July. Which in half a year will be yet another reason he will deserve an article. But no need to wait till then. We can let readers interested in looking at this player on a team that has qualified for the Olympics see his page now, before the first pitch is thrown in the Olympics - because he already is notable under WP policy. (Plus, it would be peculiar to wait until then - how would that be helpful to readers who want to learn about the players on the six teams before the first pitch?)
2. The editor also based his decline on his assertion that the article was "a little too promotional for More than Baseball as well ..."
To address that, I cut out almost all the factual mention of the non-profit, addressing his concern. Though frankly I myself don't see the "too promotional" basis, in the RS-supported objective description that I've deleted to satisfy the editor's concern.
3. The editor also asserted that the submission was not written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article, saying that it should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. But it is! I have not idea what the editor is thinking. He has not given us a clue. Anyway, that would be a reason to polish the article, not to delete it.

- I agree with the above poster. The article is well-sourced and the sources show that the player is indeed notable. Maybe I would remove the sentence about living near the beach, but aside from that, I see no reason for decline.--Geewhiz (talk) 08:34, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
- In my opinion the player is notable. Idan (talk) 09:19, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
- I agree as well...I am moving the article out of draft - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 18:36, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
